The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Release Date Set For Prime Video – Spinoff To Come?

The date is set for the end of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

The fifth and final season of the Prime Video series will release on April 14, 2023, with a bumper three-episode premiere to kick things off.

Prime Video describes the final chapter of the series as follows:

In the fifth and final season, Midge finds herself closer than ever to the success she’s dreamed of, only to discover that closer than ever is still so far away.

Following its three-episode premiere on April 14, new episodes of the final season will release weekly.

Could The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel continue beyond Season 5, in the shape of a reboot or spinoff series? Series co-showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino didn’t seem to think a franchise was necessary, whe speaking with THR last year:

“When we did the [Netflix reboot of] Gilmore Girls, which was just four movies, it wasn’t really a reboot. I don’t know, had there been many reboots before then? I think there was Fuller House, but there weren’t a lot of reboots. And now, it’s such a thing. I don’t know, I mean, we always set out to tell a story, to take them on their journey. You want to leave while people still want you there. You don’t want to leave when people are saying, “You know what, why don’t you leave?” We want to make sure that when we go out, we go out with a bang. I think it’s too early to think about anything — I don’t know about a reboot, I don’t know why we would do that, but I don’t know. For the rest of our lives, we’ll want to be in the same room with this cast and this crew. But whether or not that’s at a bar or there’s a camera running, I have no idea.”

The series, which has delighted fans for the past six years, will kick off on April 14, 2023 with a three-episode premiere and new episodes weekly.

After burning bridges and being cut from tour, Midge Maisel persisted through Season Four, rebuilding her career and reputation. The final moments of the season culminated with Midge leaving Carnegie Hall reinvigorated and ready to weather any blizzard. After an epiphany in front of The Gordon Ford Show's snowy billboard, Midge is ready to "Go forward" and fight for her ascent to stardom - equipped with her quick wit and sharp tongue, and nothing else to lose.

In the fifth and final season, Midge finds herself closer than ever to the success she's dreamed of, only to discover that closer than ever is still so far away.

Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino have "exactly" known the series' "last images" and "last moment" since the Season Four finale last year.

An awards juggernaut, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has won 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series; six Critics Choice Awards; four Screen Actors Guild Awards; three Golden Globe Awards; and more.
