Pennyworth Season 4 Cancelled – HBO Max Responds

Another DC Universe series has taken a fatal hit.

On the cancellation heels of Titans and Doom Patrol, HBO Max has now nixed Pennyworth.

The Batman prequel series, which originally aired on EPIX (now MGM+) before making the move to HBO Max for its third season, will not return for Season 4.

Pennyworth has been served cancelled after three seasons and 30 episodes.

HBO Max offered the following platitudes in response to the cancellation:

“While HBO Max is not moving forward with another season of Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler, we are very thankful to creator Bruno Heller and executive producers Matthew Patnick, Danny Cannon and John Stephens, along with Warner Bros. Television, for their brilliant, unique, gripping depiction of the origin of Alfred Pennyworth, one of the most iconic characters in the Batman world.”

It’s unclear whether the series will be shopped elsewhere for Season 4. We’ll keep you informed on any movement from the TV graveyard.
