CMT has cancelled Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team after 16 seasons. CMT has confirmed they will not be renewing the show for Season 17. However, per sources, the Dallas Cowboys organization and the show's producers are shopping Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team Season 17 to other platforms, including streaming platforms, in the hope to return the show in fall 2022. As things stand, however, the show is cancelled.

NASHVILLE -- (June 30) -- CMT today announced its most popular and longest-running series "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team" will return for season 16 on Friday, September 17 at 9PM ET/PT on CMT. Production is currently underway in Dallas as 52 hopefuls begin training and competing in a rigorous training camp to vie for a highly-coveted spot on the most iconic professional cheerleading team in America.

The much-anticipated series will return to its original time slot this Fall, fresh off a monumental 15th season which saw an unprecedented virtual audition process, the first-ever DCC Summer Training Camp inside a "bubble," and the most veteran cuts in show history. With more auditions and contestants than ever before, the competition is stiff and the pressure remains at an all-time high as the candidates work to perfect new technically-challenging routines to impress longtime coaches Kelli Finglass (Director of Cheerleading) and Judy Trammell (DCC Head Choreographer) to earn an esteemed spot on the field. Guest choreographers will be revealed at a later date.

CMT today announced its most popular and longest running series "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team" will return for a monumental season 15 on Tuesday, November 24th at 10PM ET/PT on CMT. Additionally, the series premiere will simulcast on sister network MTV.

On the heels of its highest rated season to date, "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team" returns to follow a group of hopefuls as they work their way through a rigorous training camp to vie for a highly-coveted spot on one of America's most iconic teams, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. In a first for the organization, the franchise conducted world-wide auditions virtually, resulting in one of the most diverse and talented casts to-date, and hosted DCC Summer Training Camp inside a "bubble," where hopefuls lived, trained and filmed together. With more auditions and contestants than ever before, the competition is stiff and the drama is sure to ensue as the candidates must perfect new technically-challenging routines each week to impress DCC Director of Cheerleading, Kelli Finglass, and DCC Head Choreographer, Judy Trammell.

The star-power remains high this season, as reality star and former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Melissa Rycroft Strickland returns as a guest judge and mentor for the rookie hopefuls.
