The Witcher: Blood Origin (Season 1)

Christmas is coming early this year with the highly-anticipated arrival of The Witcher: Blood Origin! Netflix has gifted fans of the popular franchise a special treat in the form of a prequel series that promises to take viewers deeper into their beloved Witcher universe.

Set a thousand years before the events of The Witcher, The Witcher: Blood Origin follows seven outcasts in an Elven world, determined to take on the powerful empire and protect their freedom.

Starring Sophia Brown, Michelle Yeoh, Minnie Driver, Laurence O’Fuarain, Lenny Henry, Mirren Mack, Nathaniel Curtis and Dylan Moran – Netflix’s upcoming limited series prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin is nicely positioned ahead of the mothership’s third season release in mid-2023.

Premiere date: December 25, 2022.

His Dark Materials (Season 3/Final Season)

BBC/HBO’s His Dark Materials returns for its third and final season, and if the past two seasons are anything to go by, fans are in for a thrilling conclusion! The closing chapter sees the bearer of ‘The Subtle Knife,’ Will (Amir Wilson) and the prophesied child Lyra (Dafne Keen), traveling through multiple worlds to find each other and protect their freedom.

Premiere date: December 5, 2022 (HBO), December 18, 2022 (BBC One).

National Treasure Edge of History

Disney+ is set to unearth a treasure of entertainment with the upcoming series, National Treasure: Edge of History. Following on from the original movie franchise, this potentially riveting story follows Jess, a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer in search of answers about her family. Armed only with her wit and determination, she embarks on an incredible journey to uncover the truth and save a lost Pan-American treasure.

The cast includes Lisette Olivera, Catherine Zeta-Jones (“Chicago”), Jake Austin Walker (“Rectify”), Jordan Rodrigues (“Lady Bird”), Zuri Reed (“Flatbush Misdemeanors”), Antonio Cipriano (“Jagged Little Pill”) and Lyndon Smith (“Parenthood”).

National Treasure Edge of History could be a real gem or an utter mess, but it’s one we’ll definitely have our eyes on. Embark on it with us when it premieres December 14, 2022.

1923 (Season 1)

Fans of the hit series Yellowstone can look forward to the new prequel series from Academy Award (R) nominee Taylor Sheridan.  Paramount+ series 1923 is an origin story that will introduce viewers to a brand new generation of Duttons. The captivating tale follows Jacob Dutton (played by Academy Award nominee Harrison Ford), and Cara Dutton (played by Academy Award winner Helen Mirren), as they face some of the most tumultuous times ever experienced in the mountain west.

Faced with pandemics, historic droughts, Prohibition and the Great Depression – 1923 promises to be an intriguing journey that will take viewers back to a pivotal moment in history. The series is sure to bring all hallmarks that Yellowstone fans have become accustomed to, with a sprinkle of nostalgia as we get to know the ancestors of the infamous Duttons.

Premiere date: December 18, 2022.

Doom Patrol (Season 4)

HBO Max’s Doom Patrol is back for a fourth season and it looks like there will be plenty of surprises! In this new installment, the team unexpectedly find themselves on the journey of a lifetime – only to discover an unwelcome surprise.

Season 4 (part 1) of this fun, character-driven superhero series lands December 8, 2022.
