Burbank, Calif. (September 8, 2022) - The Emmy-winning entertainment news series "Extra" debuts its 29th season on September 12 with the addition of Melvin Robert as Senior Correspondent and Weekend Co-Host. He will be based in Los Angeles alongside "Extra" anchor Billy Bush. and correspondents Rachel Lindsay, and Jennifer Lahmers.

Robert brings an impressive list of journalistic achievements, including a Los Angeles Area EmmyÒ Award, a Golden Mike Award and a Broadcast Journalist of the Year Award at the Los Angeles Press Club's National Arts & Entertainment Awards for his work on Spectrum News 1.

"Melvin is not only a strong journalist, interviewer and storyteller, he is dynamic and his energy and authenticity pop off the screen," said "Extra" executive producers Theresa Coffino and Jeremy Spiegel.

Prior to joining "Extra," Robert served as co-anchor of "Your Morning" and host of "The SoCal Scene" on Spectrum News 1, where he covered some of Hollywood's biggest stories in addition to local and national news, such as the Inauguration of President Joe Biden, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2020 civil unrest following the murder of George Floyd, as well as celebrity interviews such as Jessica Alba, Gabrielle Union, Common and Ava DuVernay. Before his career in television, Robert spent 11 years in education as a teacher, counselor and administrator, serving the needs of at-risk and challenged students.

"Extra" has announced that former "Bachelorette" star Rachel Lindsay will join the Daytime Emmy Award-winning entertainment news show when it premieres its 27th season on September 8th. Lindsay, who co-hosts the wildly popular "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast, has been serving as a special correspondent for "Extra" since 2019, covering the Super Bowl and interviewing celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Hart, Kiefer Sutherland and Tiffany Haddish. Lindsay, who holds a law degree from Marquette University, made history as the first African American "Bachelorette." She will be based in Los Angeles alongside host Billy Bush and correspondent Jennifer Lahmers.

To kick off season 25, “Extra” will throw the ultimate on-air reunion party on Monday, September 10th, welcoming back “Extra’s” favorite former hosts and personalities, including Mark McGrath, Leeza Gibbons, Libby Weaver, Dayna Devon, Samantha Harris, Jon Kelley, Tracey Edmonds, Charissa Thompson, David Rose, Wendy Walsh, Lauren Sanchez, Brad Goode, Arthel Neville and Dave Nemeth, who are among the names who will be a part of this special episode, reminiscing and sharing their favorite “Extra” stories, and updating the audience on their lives today.
